A well constructed leaded glass panel can survive for over 100 years, but accidents can (and do) happen and materials will deteriorate over time. Alongside obvious cracks to glass and damage/bowing of the lead, you may find that the original window putty has come loose and solder joints have started to break down. Leaded Victorian and Edwardian doors and windows can be given a new lease of life with a full strip down, clean up and re-leading. Your panels will be fully stiffened and waterproofed and made to look like new!
I always try to match as well as possible any glass that needs to be replaced, taking into account the texture and colour of the glass.
Please contact me, with photographs if possible, of your damaged stained glass and I will be happy to provide you with an estimate of cost for a repair. I am also happy to make a free, no obligation visit in and around the Sheffield / Chesterfield area, to assess the scope of the work.
Please be aware that in the majority of cases repair/restoration work cannot be done in situ and panels will need to be removed, in order to work on them on the flat.
