Copper foil Workshop

Thanks for a great day yesterday and lovely lunch too!

I learned a great deal from you on the Copper foiling technique and on the wide variety of tools available ...

You're a really great teacher and you created a lovely relaxed environment in which to learn. The pieces I made have already been greatly admired - and I'm really pleased with them too! All the best and many thanks again.

THANKS!

Thanks so much, Kate. We had a wonderful day. I can't believe how many skills I learnt. You are an excellent teacher - allowing us time to figure things out and knowing when to help before frustration set in.  I have just finished polishing my panel and I shall hang it very proudly tomorrow.  Best wishes from Eileen xx

Copperfoil workshop

Really enjoyed the Copper Foil Stained Glass Workshop with Kate. Fabulous teacher - well structured day and great for students with little or no glass crafting skills. Acquired lots of new technical skills in one day and feel motivated to try out other stained glass techniques. Would highly recommend.

Moira's Windows

“It was important to me that the design, work and installation was carried out discretely, as the final product was a present for a significant birthday for my wife. After I’d made the initial enquiry, Kate contacted me to discuss aspects of our family life, and especially my wife’s specific likes. I have to say that I was stunned by the initial designs that she produced, in a very short period. I was given 4 main options of varying designs, but for me one stood out. Having made that decision, Kate came back to me with a host of specific questions regarding elements of the design, and then fine tuned them to the piece. On Kate’s request, I supplied photos and other artwork to supplement the design, down to the shape of the label on the Champagne bottle (which I hope you will see). The general theme of a cricket ground was refined to include specific objects, such as the (now demised) clock tower at Edgbaston, and the inclusion of a special glass to represent the audience was a masterpiece.

Kate frequently kept me in touch with proposed changes to the design, and I was free to agree or otherwise with each. We had some interesting conversations about the fine detail of the content, the practicality of transferring design to glass, and I felt absolutely confident in Kate’s ability to deliver the brief.

Having diverted my wife for her birthday weekend, the installation, using a local company, went without a hitch. On her return, she was amazed at the artwork, and the different feel the window lends to the whole landing & stairs. Coincidentally, we had the door in our bedroom reversed, and we now get the full effect of the light from the window into our bedroom in the mornings.

I’m sure that when you have viewed the shots you will agree that Kate doesn’t just produce replacement stained glass windows, but an artistic product that is individual, of the highest quality, and something that will be treasured for years”

(Oh, did I say that I’ve kept the original glass, so if we move then I’ll have to find a way of getting it fitted into the DG so we can take your windows with us)

Waves Triptych

I commissioned a piece from Kate at Billigoat Designs as a special birthday present for myself from my husband! (He was delighted as it meant he didn't have to do anything other than pay for it!)  My brief was to produce 3 panels around 250mm in height to stand in my bedroom window.  I sketched out a (very) rough version on the back of an envelope and left the rest to Kate.  I live a long way from Sheffield, but Kate kept in touch every step of the way, sending me photographs of glass she was considering and even, on one occasion, putting a sample of glass in the post for my approval!

The finished product is beautiful, and exactly what I wanted.

Katy's Fanlight

I just said to Kate "could you do a representation of my kids playing, with a traditional sunburst background and really vibrant colours?"

When she came back to me a few days later I was bowled over! She had met my kids and seen my home and produced designs that were just what I was looking for.   We discussed a few changes here and there and the finished fanlight  was above my front door 3 weeks later!  What I hadn't banked on was the wonderful colourful light that now streams into my hallway.  It changes as the sun moves throughout the day and has added such warmth to my home!  Thank you!
